In order to provide real-time matches and social capabilities, we collect certain details, either automatically or when you interact with our platform:
- Profile Nicknames: To play online, you provide a display name or nickname. This name is visible to other players in multiplayer lobbies and match tables. We do not require real names or official identification.
- Gameplay Statistics: We record active statistics such as games played, match outcomes (wins/losses/draws), chess moves, card game bidding, scores, and disconnection events to manage leaderboards and matching.
- Technical Metadata: When connecting to our matchmaking servers, we automatically log your IP address, device type, operating system version, connection latency, and performance/crash logs.
Live Voice Processing & Mic Access
Transient WebRTC Communication
Gameora provides voice chat rooms during matches using LiveKit WebRTC. While the app requests microphone permission to enable this feature, your voice data is processed dynamically and is never recorded, stored, or logged on our servers or by our providers.
Your audio communication travels directly to match participants over encrypted connections. If you choose not to grant microphone permissions, you can still participate fully in all games, but the voice communications interface will be disabled.
How We Use Your Data
We process the collected information for the following core operations:
- Matchmaking & Lobbies: Connecting you with available players using socket connections (Socket.io) based on game type and connectivity.
- Leaderboards & Profiles: Maintaining match histories and display names so players can track their game records over time.
- App Performance: Identifying and resolving bugs, server lag, or client-side crashes using telemetry and analytics.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We value your privacy and do not sell your personal data. We only share information with third parties in the following limited circumstances:
- Infrastructure Providers: We work with hosting, matchmaking, and voice service providers (like socket hosts or LiveKit clouds) to maintain real-time servers under strict confidentiality clauses.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or in good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal processes.
Device Storage & AsyncStorage
Gameora uses the device's native local storage (via AsyncStorage) to store settings and preferences locally. This include:
- Your preferred display name and avatar configurations.
- Volume levels and voice chat defaults (muted/unmuted).
- Game setting preferences (e.g., Chess board themes, sound effects).
This data remains locally on your device and can be cleared at any time by wiping the app's cache or uninstalling the application.
Children's Privacy
Gameora is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with display names or profile information, we will delete this information immediately from our servers.
